Job Specifics
Duties Description As an Investigative Officer 2 (UI) with the Office of Special Investigations, you would oversee the activities of a team of Investigative Officers 1 engaged in investigating allegations of Unemployment Insurance fraud, including alleged identity theft and fraudulent claims; provide training and mentoring to team members; assign cases for investigation; review and approve completed cases; serve as liaison with law enforcement and District Attorney offices in the geographical region; and prepare reports for the Investigative Officer 3 or Investigative Officer 4.

Reassignment Qualifications:
Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in an Investigative Officer 2(UI); if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Investigative Officer 2 (UI) eligible list for this location if one exists.
52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications:
To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as an Investigative Officer 1. If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor Investigative Officer 1 apply to this vacancy, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified Investigative Officer 1 without further examination.
Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.
Provisional Qualifications:
Candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as Investigative Officer 1. The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.
70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Supervising Labor Services Representative, SG-20.
As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
Additional Comments This position may require a fingerprint background check prior to appointment.
Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.
